Winter is a time where nature goes to sleep and all the woods and hills lie still for awhile. Nature works hard at growing and producing all year, but it also knows when it’s time to rest. Nature rests all winter long and then starts back at work again in the Spring!
In our fast paced world, nothing hardly seems to come to a stop. Everything keeps going and going and the wheels in our minds keep turning and turning. Insomnia is on the rise as well as stress levels, mental health disorders and a host of other conditions. Stressed people make more mistakes and are at risk for more diseases.
Like nature we should work hard, but also know when it’s time to rest. We are designed to work from rest. Our Creator God set up His creation this way. We read in Exodus 20 that God gave us six days to labor and one day to rest just as He did when He made the earth. Rest and peace are gifts from our heavenly Father to be received with a glad heart!
Everything we have is a gift from above, and taking time to slow down and appreciate our blessings is an act of worship to our creator.
