I developed dyshidrotic ezcema at the beginning of 2024. It was in the middle of massage school and right after a vaccine I got from my elderly care job at the time. It was nothing like I had ever experienced and I had no idea how to deal with it.
It was itchy, blistery, oozy and so red and swollen at times. It started just on my wrist, but soon it had spread to other areas. Sleeping was so difficult and I had to wear socks to keep me from itching at night. I felt so confused and like I had no clue what was happening inside my body. Autoimmunity is a puzzlement. It feels like the controls to your own body went missing and your just reacting to the stimulus at times. After a couple rounds of steroids and antibiotics I knew I had to find something natural. I couldn’t keep using these harsh drugs anymore.
First I reduced my toxin exposure and started wearing oatmeal lined gloves anytime I would touch chemicals, cleaning products or even shampoo! I tried to identify trigger foods by doing an elimination diet. This helped and I eliminated eggs, dairy, gluten, white sugar and high histamine foods. It took me so long to figure out what foods were triggering, so give yourself grace here. It’s hard.
I went through so many different lotions testing out new ones all the time. I reacted to many of them and became so itchy I scratched my skin open. I have found soaking my hands in cold apple cider vinegar and dead sea salt water has helped calm itching attacks significantly! I end the soaks with a mix of castor oil, tea tree and silver shield gel. This helps fight staph infection from openings in the skin barrier. I had a staph infection so bad I had to take antibiotics. I now aim to stay on top of this and take extra precautions.
I also learned stress is part of the puzzle. I had my ezcema clear up twice. Once on a family lake trip and the next time during Thanksgiving week. I believe getting out of my routine and relaxing was helpful, but not the only reason for healing. Walking in Jesus’s perfect love and receiving His peace in my heart has been the secret to lifelong joy in the struggle and anguish of chronic ezcema. What a gift my Savior has given to me! Peace amist the storms of this life.♡ I now know I need to prioritize rest and keep the sabbath. I have more peace in my schedule and I pray over it everyday. It’s not about how many things you get done, but living out your life for Jesus and walking in His will.
Some natural therapies that have brought relief are: red light, salt baths, deep breathing, frequency, massage therapy, limbic system rewiring, cranial sacral, alkalizing green juice every morning, thankfulness journaling, prayer walking, dancing and all the things that bring make your heart truly glad.♡ I suggest keeping a progress journal to help you stay on course and learn what hasn’t worked for you. Making time for these therapies has been a must for me. I soon learned that ignoring my ezcema wasn’t working. I couldn’t just laugh it off. The more I ignored it, the more unbearable it became. We learn as we go, don’t we?
Of course your healing journey will be different than mine has been. We all come from different backgrounds and circumstances. I truly pray you find healing and relief using natural remedies from God’s creation.
With love, Merci Bailey ♡
For a greens juice combine things like celery, cucumber, parsley, carrots, ginger root, lemon and chlorophyll. This makes a good detoxing drink on an empty stomach in the morning.☕️
“I have come to realize that healing is not the absence of pain; rather, it is the presence of God and His continuing involvement in our lives.”
