Good Posture For Life

Your posture towards anything you do will either help you or hurt you. It’s east to slump in our chairs and hunch over without giving our bodies proper support. Poor posture will catch up with you sooner or later. When it does, you’ll wish you had taken action towards good posture sooner!

Good posture entails keeping your shoulders down, back straight and chest out. Remember to breathe and relax. Allow yourself to take deep belly breaths to support optimal oxygen levels throughout the day. Bend your knees when you’re lifting or reaching down instead of hunching over and straining your back.

Move with your whole body and stand behind your work allowing your bones to support the force of your work. Remember that strength comes from your center of gravity…let gravity work for you.

Excercise helps strengthen weak postural muscles. Try excercises that target your core muscles and support your spine. The serratus Anterior located along your sides does the action of protraction, making it known as the “posture problem child.” Massage therapy helps to break up knots and muscle adhesions from prolonged improper posture and muscular tension and helps support good posture.
