My family has had an apple orchard for most of my life. We’ve all helped contribute to it’s care, and reaped it’s blessings! Now that all my older brothers and sisters are grown and married, I care for the trees. I love watching them bloom, grow, change and produce fruits! I grow them completely organic, so the apples are out of this world sweet, crisp, and flavorful!
There is a lot of blessing in growing your own apples, as well as responsibility. When the apples start falling off the trees by the bushels, it’s time to scurry to avoid letting any go to waste! And I hate letting things go to waste! I make a lot of apple butter, apple sauce, apple chips, and lot’s of pressed cider! I love inviting all my 22 nieces and nephews over to help! It’s nice having all their little hands to help harvest! They helped me pick 35 bushels of fuji this year! Thank God for their help!
If you are considering growing your very own fruit, and wondering if it’s worth the effort..I would say if you want to do it, do it! We live in a fast paced world with too many quick fixes and short cuts. Good things take time…Honest work always pays off. Do the hard things, that are worthwhile in the long run. Take joy in the little things, and don’t let fear of failure hold you back. We need more Thomas Edison’s who believe that failure is a lesson, and a preparation for success!
When you are feeling down, and discouraged…think about the potential of what you are working towards. Imagine yourself sitting with a warm piece of apple butter toast, and a cup of coffee in hand. Oh yeah, that was me this morning! It makes me so excited to be able to enjoy apple butter from my orchard that God has blessed so abundantly! Take heart, and keep your head up! You can do this! God be with you my friend.♡
